Instructions & Ideas for Everyday Wellbeing
Essential oils are highly concentrated plant extracts that can be used in a variety of ways to enhance your home, self-care rituals, and daily wellbeing. Below are some simple and effective ways to enjoy your essential oils safely and beautifully.

General Safety Guidance

- Always dilute essential oils before applying to the skin.
- Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.
- Keep out of reach of children and pets.
- If pregnant, breastfeeding, or under medical care, consult a professional before use.
- Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
1. Using Essential Oils in a Diffuser or Oil Burner
One of the most popular ways to enjoy essential oils is through inhalation via diffusion.
How to use:
I recommend my brand new Awelon Aromatherapy diffuser, which is a waterless and heatless nebulising diffuser. Simply add your essential oil or aromatherapy blend and enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy as the oil is dispersed into the air in micro droplets.
Alternatively, you can Add 3–6 drops of essential oil to water in an ultrasonic diffuser depending on your personal preference.
Or with an oil burner, fill the top dish with water and add 2–4 drops of essential oil, then light a tealight below.
Benefits:
- Creates a calming or uplifting atmosphere
- Helps freshen the air
- Supports relaxation, focus, or energy depending on the particular essential oils
Tip: Start with fewer drops and increase gradually to suit your space and preference.
2. Aromatic Shower (Steam Inhalation)
Transform your shower into a spa-like experience.
How to use:
Add 2–3 drops of essential oil to a damp flannel or sponge.
Place it on the shower floor (away from direct water flow).
As the steam rises, it releases the aroma into the air.
Great for:
- Morning energy boosts
- Evening relaxation
- Clearing the senses
3. Bath Use (With a Base Oil)
Essential oils should never be added directly to bath water without dilution.
How to use:
Mix 3–5 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of a base oil (such as jojoba, or coconut oil).
Add the blended oil to warm bath water and swirl gently.
Benefits:
- Encourages relaxation
- Nourishes the skin
- Creates a soothing, aromatic soak
4. Skin Application (Blended with a Base Oil)
Perfect for massage or targeted application.
How to use:
Dilute essential oils in a base oil:
For general use: 1–2 drops per 10ml base oil
Apply to pulse points, shoulders, or tired muscles.
Tip: Always perform a patch test before first use.
5. Natural Home Fragrance (Drawers & Wardrobes)
A lovely way to gently scent your clothing and linens.
How to use:
Add 1–2 drops of essential oil to a tissue, cotton pad, or wooden diffuser block.
Place inside drawers, wardrobes, or storage boxes.
Refresh as needed when the scent fades.
6. Household Cleaning & Freshening
Essential oils can be a wonderful addition to your cleaning routine.
Vacuum Freshener:
Add 2 drops of essential oil to the vacuum filter or a cotton pad and vacuum as usual.
Surface Cleaning:
Add 5–10 drops of essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water and a little white vinegar or gentle cleaner.
Benefits:
- Leaves rooms smelling fresh
- Naturally uplifting and cleansing aromas
