Candle care
Candle care.
Take care of your candle, and let it take care of you.
There is a lot of science that goes into creating the perfect candle, as there are so many factors that influence how it burns... type of wax, wicks, size of the candle and any added oils. I've spent many hours (and candles) testing wicks, wax and essential oils to ensure an even and consistent, highly enjoyable burning experience for you.
Trim the wick...
The role of the wick is to fuel the flame, It does this by drawing melted wax up the wick by capillary action to meet the flame. As the wax is drawn up the wick, it turns to vapour which reacts with oxygen in the environment to produce the flame. In order to continue drawing up the right amount of fuel, the wick must be trimmed between each burn. This will also prevent your candle from smoking as it burns and depositing ashy particles into the candle. The burnt wick should break away easily between your fingertips, you can use wick trimmers if you'd prefer.

Burn your candle! Don't wait for a rainy day or special occasion. Create your special occasion. Enjoy your candle while its fresh. While your candle isn't going to expire in any way, candles which are made from natural wax and oils do give a better performance when used within a year.
Keep your candle fresh by popping the lid on when its not in use, and store away from direct sunlight. Once you've used it all up, please recycle or repurpose your amber glass jar.
Any remaining wax in the bottom of the jar may be scraped out and used in your wax melt burner, or you could use it to make natural fire lighters. I have created a blog on this DIY fire lighter recipe here.
